WELCH FILES LOCAL AMENDMENTS TO THE SENATE BUDGET

After reviewing the Senate’s budget proposal this week I was pleased with the investments made by the budgetary committee, but more needs to be done to achieve some regional equity,” said Senator Welch. “After speaking with constituents, advocates, and community leaders, I put forward amendments that I believe will make investments out here where there is more need.”

Among the amendments filed by Senator Welch, highlights include: local money for community policing and innovative training, increased access to criminal justice, investments in programs for at-risk youth, awards towards local economic development and recreation projects, supports for addiction and recovery services, and removal of barriers to quality, local, health care options for children and families.

In total, Senators filed 1142 amendments to the Senate’s original budget proposal. A list of all the amendments can be found at https://malegislature.gov/Budget/SenateDebate.
