Senator Welch visits Baystate Medical Center alongside Treasurer Goldberg

Senator Welch and Treasurer Goldberg paid a visit to Baystate Medical Center to promote the BabySteps Savings Plan.

Launched on January 1st of this year, the BabySteps Savings Plan is the first universal educational savings program of its kind. Any child born or adopted in the Commonwealth is eligible for a free $50 deposit in their college savings account.

Research has shown that children with college savings accounts are three times more likely to obtain higher education. The BabySteps Savings Plan allows parents to get a jump start on these savings.
